    Centuries ago Humans called especially adept liars silver-tongued and now, a billion light years from Earth, Ted hears a Shulker call him fey-mouthed. Fey-mouths can’t tell a lie, the Shulker says in hushed tones to her companions, but will twist you up in the truth until you can’t tell up from down and leave with a fulfilled bargain you would never agree to in a thousand years.
