“It is not a problem, you know,” Mike says before he can lose his nerve. Will looks up at him from where his gaze is focused on his hands.
“What?” he asks.
“Having your first kiss. It’s not a big deal if you haven’t. Or if you had and didn’t want to tell everyone.”
“I haven’t.”
“Oh. Well, like I said…” Mike trails off, watching the way Will’s fingers continually tangle together. A nervous habit that has Mike speaking again. “They exaggerate it,” Mike says. “Movies and stuff. Dramatized for the audience.”
Or: During the long months of living together at the end of the world, Mike and Will share a moment that feels a little too close to what they've been dancing around.

Summary
If you asked Mike why he did it, he probably wouldn’t have an answer. All he knew was that one moment he was walking with Will to their bikes after school, and the next Will was being pulled aside by a girl from his art class. Mike didn’t know the girl’s name; it’d never seemed like important information until now.
It still didn’t, except for the fact that the girl was clearly flirting with Will, nervously tugging at a lock of her long hair.
Will is hot - objectively - and Mike knows this because all the girls at Hawkins make this fact very clear.
This greatly annoys him, for reasons he'll never admit, and on a whim decides to involve himself in a conversation that is very much not his business.

Objectively, this used to be true. Nowadays Shane has many, many plans, between his nightly plans to look at Ilya’s penis through Skype and his various long-term plans laid out helpfully in his notebook, Canva (For Ilya’s sake. He is a visual learner), and more recently, Excel. Shane loves that excel sheet. He’s colour coded it.
In 2017, Shane Hollander spirals and proposes to his boyfriend of 4 days (or 7 years, or 9 years, or not his boyfriend at all, depending on how you look at it), which leads to a lot of plans, weird theories in the Montreal Voyageur locker room, some Twitter drama, and Ilya Rozanov entering his WAG era.

Shouyou lets out a little coo as he gazes at the rings. Luck is real! He can practically feel his eyes bulging in his head as he slaps Kageyama’s stomach behind him with the back of his hand. “Kageyama! Kageyama! Rings!”
Kageyama shuffles around – probably partly to escape Shouyou’s thwacking hand – to stand by his side instead, leaning down to peer at the small velvet box. “Rings,” he says, eloquently.
“Is that a yes?” the man needles.
“Nnnyes,” Kageyama replies, before Shouyou can, his words slurred between confirming and denying.
Shouyou elbows him irritably. “Pick a side!” he hisses. “Don’t you wanna be volleyball married?”

“It sucks,” Adora agrees offhandedly, blood rushing in her ears. “Go on.”
“I don’t know. Parents? I’ve kinda just skimmed the rest of the page. All the focus on family was annoying.”
Adora shrugs, trying to look and sound nonchalant. “Married couples, too.”
