    Jiang Wanyin had claimed Wei Wuxian left when they were sleeping, that they had planned on going back to Lotus Pier, to fight against the Wen stronghold that was there, to reclaim the bodies of Jiang Fengmian and Yu Ziyuan - and Wei Wuxian had fled, run, disappeared, vanished.

    He claimed that he woke up, and Wei Wuxian was gone, not a single trace of him in the space they had found to sleep in.

    Immediately, others were giving Jiang Wanyin their condolences for having such a disobedient disciple, for Wei Wuxian fleeing in the night after everything he had caused, leaving the aftermath to be faced alone by Jiang Wanyin.

    Lan Wangji had never believed such a story.

    Wèi Wúxiàn never arrived at Jīnlín Tái, leaving Jīn Zixūn and his army waiting at Qióngqí path until Jīn Zixuān showed up and dragged them all back. Some days after, word finally reached the Great Clans of the mysterious explosion. Jīn Guāngshàn immediately sent cultivators to investigate. Upon arriving in Yílíng, the Jīn cultivators found an impenetrable ward around Luànzàng Hill, making it impossible for anyone to step past the foot of the mountain.     In a world where monsters reeking of negative energy run rampant, humanity has been forced to reside within cities protected by powerful barriers. These barriers are carefully guarded, and maintained by a Barrier Master. Only an idiot would try living outside of a barrier, and only a moron would be caught outside one at night.

    Which Wei Wuxian supposed made him both. Still, it wasn't like anyone was going to notice him out here. He'd worked too hard for that, burying his talents and skills for the sake of peace in the Jiang Household. They probably though he was still living in their garage, not in a tent in the woods. And Wei Wuxian would keep it that way, remaining unnoticed until he graduated from the College of Cultivation and landed a job.

    At least that was a plan until the Heir to the Barrier himself fell from the sky and crashed into his tent.
