Summary
Five years ago Thor failed everyone by not going for the head. He failed to avenge his brother, half the universe was gone. He failed. He then fell into a depression haunted by the memories of his failures. After five years of wallowing in his sadness, Bruce tells Thor there's a chance they can bring everyone back. Thor is not going to pass up the opportunity to save everyone lost during the Blip. Including his brother.

“I’ll just pull up the movie on my superior tv setup, and you can just get comf-” “DONNIE ITS FAMILY MOVIE TIME, GET IN HERE!” Mikey yelled so loud, Donnie swore people in Philadelphia would be able to hear his younger brother.
Donnie gave out a long sigh. “Well there goes serenity.”
All April and Donnie wanted to do was watch a Christmas movie on their own.

Bruce can’t sleep. It snowballs into him realizing that there’s a huge side of Loki that no one knew about.
AU: Loki gets hurt in the battle on the bifrost and hides it as long as he can stand before things get very out of hand and lead to bigger problems.

The guards leave him locked up in his rooms, but Loki barely notices. He sits on the bed, staring at nothing, feeling hollow inside. He’s stopped crying and now that the rush of adrenaline has finally left him, his body aches unpleasantly and he feels deadly tired.
In another universe, this is when the TVA comes to pick him up. In certain ways, that universe might be a little more merciful than this one.
In this universe he sits on his bed for hours, just staring at nothing, a chorus of

playing inside his head nonstop. No one comes to see him and this doesn’t surprise him one bit: the Crown Prince of Asgard is dead, there are much more pressing concerns than whatever happened to the other Prince.or
How would the timeline the Kid Loki Variant came from would have played out, if the TVA hadn’t intervened?

She’s not going to defy her father (yet), but in the beginning, she gives Loki a little advice: find a core truth about yourself and bury it deep, and once Thanos has broken and remade you into what he wants, something of you might still be left. (This fic is basically complete; I still need to finish Part III, but it's a complete story already.)

Summary
Just after dealing with Malekith, Thor returns to Asgard to tell his father (the "wise" king whose wisdom no one will ever surpass) that he would "rather be a good man than a great king." He doesn't get a chance to make this very interesting statement, as he is met with the discovery that Loki is not only alive again, but also a child of 250-300 years (or the equivalent of a 5-6 year old) who doesn't remember any of his life past that age.
I.e. Thor unintentionally volunteers to be his, now much younger, brother's dad for who knows how long even though Thor has no idea what a good father looks like. I had wanted to write something where Loki and Thor develop a healthier relationship and work through their issues, and then I rewatched Lilo and Stitch and got inspired.
I'm going to try to keep the characterization and whatever plot elements as true to mcu canon as I can manage. We'll see how that goes.
