Dumbledore did the right thing, for once. Sirius never went after Wormtail. Harry was raised by his godfather far away from Privet Drive, in a small apartment in Muggle London, so he could be close to the worlds both their parents came from.
And when the school’s faculty decided it was ok to leave eleven-year-olds to deal with the aftermath of their own inaction, well… it was only fair for a certain charismatic, reckless, hair-obsessed Gryffindor to decide no godson of his would be “destined” to face the Dark Lord on his own.
As Harry started his second year, Hogwarts buzzed with the rumours that a member of The Noble and Most Ancient House of Black was going to be their new Muggle Studies teacher.
Severus felt the blood drain from his face. He was not a Seer. He never possessed the gift of clairvoyance. And yet, clear as day, as soon as his eyes fell upon those absurdly perfect dark curls and the mischievous glint in Sirius Black’s pale grey eyes, he had a premonition of impending doom.

They might have subplots, but this is a Harry centered fanfic. Some background- Severus and Sirius are the rulers (yes I say queen for sev bc my ahh will get lowkirk confused also I can so) of "Hogwarts kingdom", and were obviously super close with Harry's parents.
