Summary
Midoriya Izuku was told he couldn't be a hero. All Might never got his name. But Midoriya left the scene knowing that, even if he couldn't be a hero, he was going to help everyone he could. How was he supposed to help people when he was the weakest person he knew? Sure, he doesn't know anything about working out, but it should be fine. No pain no gain, right?
(Within the timelines and divergent storylines, this one ran slightly too close to the truth. Midoriya Izuku was supposed to be the greatest hero of this world, and Fate wasn't going to deny this one. But breaking the rules has a tendency to spiral out of control... "Slingshot" was an elusive street artist leaving tags all across Musutafu. His works were all green, all stuck in out of the way spots, and there were almost no sightings of him. Every hero in the city was looking out for him, though he wasn't as important as a vigilante or a villain.

Izuku is the only normal one in his house. He was born Empty to a pair of Talented parents and grew up learning about magic he would never be able to use. To the general public, he was 'Deku' for believing in magic as he grew up. To the Talented and the Folk, he was 'Deku' for trying to do the impossible. When his untimely death results in bequeathing him magic power of his own, Izuku hits the ground running.
He wants to know EVERYTHING.
Even if he has to figure out the rules all on his own, even if everyone calls him crazy, even if all he has are really old books and a couple hundred theories.

“It’s me.” Midoriya’s voice was soft, even softer than usual. After a moment, green light flared to life around him, blowing stray strands of his hair about his face in an erratic way. The glow of his Quirk cast him in a haunting, nearly ethereal light, masking the bags that had taken up near-permanent residence beneath his eyes. “How do you feel?”
“My head,” Momo started, raising one hand to try to touch it, before giving up halfway there.
“You hit it pretty hard,” Midoriya murmured. “The bleeding has stopped, at least, but we need to get it looked at when we get out of here.”
“Where is here?” Momo asked.
Midoriya’s face twisted unpleasantly with whatever answer he was about to share with her, and he sighed. “We were buried.”

If you asked the average citizen of Remnant to describe Ruby Rose, they’d tell you she was a hero.
