The Russian pet name set a firework off inside Shane's mind as he heard it cooed from behind him. The intonation was just as he remembered, but the voice was much deeper.He turned and felt himself short circuit. It took every ounce of willpower to not let his jaw drop cartoonishly to the floor. Shane would recognize his individual features anywhere, even after 5 years. But it was as if someone had snapped their fingers and the smug, silly Russian boy who had been attached to Shane's hip for 3 summers was transformed into some sort of fucking Adonis right before his eyes.
“Ilya-” was all Shane managed before strong arms were wrapped around his waist and lifting him off the ground in a greeting all too familiar from years ago.

“Here he is,” Harris stops them in front of an office door, which is slightly ajar. Harris swings the door open to reveal Shane Hollander.
“Hollander?” Ilya blurts out, unable to hide his surprise. Shane looks the same in a lot of ways, with the same shiny black hair, large brown eyes, and appealing dappling of freckles across his cheeks. He’s wearing a t-shirt, some piece of Ottawa Centaurs merch. Shane Hollander is just as cute as Ilya remembers him to be when they were sending each other heated looks across the gym in Los Angeles.
“You two know each other?” Harris asks, looking between the two of them.
“We were drafted at the same time,” Shane explains quickly.Ilya is traded to Ottawa in 2018 where he finds Shane Hollander working for the Centaurs as the team's nutritionist.

Troy eyed Luca, noting his shaking hands. “You okay Haasy? You’re a little pale, sure you weren’t outside for too long?”
The kid visibly swallowed, looking like he was going to explode if he didn’t get out of this room. “Fine, something happened, but it’s not a big deal or anything I just need to go get—“ He cut himself off, but Ilya latched onto his words anyways.
”Get what, Haas? Someone? Something? Is snowing, yes? What could possibly be worth going out in this weather?” His captain was clearly not going to let this one go, which Troy honestly couldn’t blame him for.
Harris stepped up on the opposite side of Troy from Ilya, resulting in the kid being sort of boxed in against the door. Troy would put money on that being the thing that finally forced the confession out of Luca’s mouth.
”I need to go pick up my boyfriend.”(Or: Luca is a simp, Ilya torments, Troy gets tormented, Harris just wants everyone to get home safe, and the Ottawa Centaurs continue to collect queer players like Pokémon)
