    Summary

And the issue isn’t just that his student is screaming in terror, but that she is calling out to him in the process.

It’s an instinctive response, a cry for help directed at the only person she can turn to—even as the raw emotion behind her words warns him that not even his presence will be enough to ease her terror.

So Qifrey hears her, glances at her out of the corner of his eye while still with his back to her, and—

    Coco steps in between them.

And blocks something with her body.

[Or things that could have gone wrong, do go wrong.

    Summary

Coco was close, so close that the possibility of failing at this point clouded her judgment regarding her next moves.

She reached out as far as she could, applying more pressure with her torso and knees, which served as support.

Heat radiated from Riche’s skin, and the mere sensation emboldened Coco enough to reach for her quickly and pull her as if her life depended on it. Riche was pulled away, sliding to a safer spot than Coco’s current position by sheer momentum.

When she looked back, three pairs of stunned eyes watched her in silence. Their expressions hovered in a limbo between anxiety and fear, unsure of how to react to what they had just witnessed.

Still, Coco… She had done it! She had saved her friend from danger! She can finally do something! She—!

    “COCO!”

The ice finally gave way beneath her feet.

[Or, the girls go to practice magic and an accident happens. Qifrey isn't taking it very well, and neither is Olruggio.]

    Summary

In other words, for Dan Heng, the first “proof” that Stelle is okay—that is, without major physical or mental injuries—is the comforting warmth that radiates through her skin.

Comforting in the sense that, even if he doesn't ask her or has time to do so, feeling her warmth reminds him that she is still there, safe and sound.

A warmth that is always there.

A warmth that should always be there.

    Summary

“We just need one key piece, and we can fix this.”

“Dan Heng.” Stelle called again, one eye peeking out from between her messy locks. “Please...”

“So come here, sit down, and help me find that missing piece.” He ordered in a firm voice, but deep down it was nothing more than a plea. “Just trust, Aeons, don't give up on your path... Don't do it before it's—”

    “It's too late, Dan Heng.”

For a moment, there is silence. A tense, icy silence, the calm before the storm.

The next instant, the table gives way under the sudden pressure, creaking and splitting in two.

[Or perhaps Stelle ran out of time.]

    Summary

When he reaches his figure, Klein wraps an arm around him as he pushes them both into the stairwell. Spinning around, but leaving no room to reach the poet without stepping over him, Klein points his weapon at the orphanage's ceiling.

The figure of a man, with a cold stare and the appearance of a corpse, is reflected in the seer's steady eyes.

    The silver barrels meet again.

Both Klein and the attacker pull their respective triggers. The outcome is as clear as it is inevitable. Despite this, the seer does not care. More than that, he believes it is a relatively small and deserved consequence compared to what could have happened.

Klein cannot help but feel a little satisfaction as he watches his bullet cleanly pierce the left lung area.

As they continue to fall in his slowed perception of reality, something explodes in his lower ribs.

[Or also, the first time Klein suffers a gunshot wound.]

    Summary

    “Leonard—”

“Shut up,” he growled. “I don't want... I don't want to hear another apology from you.”

    What do you want then?

The poet licks his lips, seriously considering his next words. “Your empty apologies are useless to me, no. I want an oath in the name of the Goddess.”

Are you really going to involve an orthodox god in this? It wouldn't be the first time at all, but... It seemed crazy, it is crazy, but in that situation, Klein doesn't dare contradict him.

“Swear to the Goddess that I won't have to see you again.”

[Or also, Klein spies on Leonard from above the gray fog. He discovers he's ill and visits him. Emotions surface.]

    Summary

Feeling that something was missing, Klein rested his hand on his lips, thoughtful. A moment later, he spoke. “Leonard, look at me for a second.”

The poet didn't complain. Curious and with a slightly raised eyebrow, he spoke. “What's going on—?”

Leonard Mitchell's words vanish into thin air.

    Summary

It is warm, a familiar emotion that was lost that day with the death of two hawks. One that the poet refused to enjoy again. His soul twists, uncomfortable and anxious, wanting to believe. Once again, his heart insists that it could be, that there is a possibility.

Maybe he's not here, his subconscious whispers hopefully, but he is here.

Picking up his hat in his hands and hiding the brown behind his black hair, the poet listens to him.

    “Leonard...?”

    Leonard Mitchell runs.

“Come on, tell me, is he good at it? Or are you just with him for his pretty face?”

In response, the bitter scent intensifies. The Beyonder of Sequence 7 shook his head amusedly.

“You really care, huh? My question is, is it mutual? Does that casanova feel anything, or are you just another one on his charity list?”

The omega growled. “Don't talk about him like that.”

    Summary

“I need you to be honest, because what happened there—”

His words trailed off before he could finish. His mind clouded, and not very grateful for how nervous the poet sounded, Klein squeezed his shirt with what little strength he had left.

    Just say it, he conveyed.

In a mixture of concern and embarrassment, Leonard asked. “Klein, are you in heat?”

[Or, Klein's first heat comes on a mission in a rather unpleasant way. Although he has options, Leonard fears the consequences.

    Summary

    [CONTAINS SPOILERS FOR VOLUME I]

Leonard enjoys it and, at the same time, suffers for it: a sweet lie to appease the cruel reality, a nocturnal illusion, a nightmare that is more bearable than what awaits him when he wakes up.

His hand pauses for a moment and forces him to meet his gaze. There is no anger, only melancholy. His voice echoes in his ears like a barely audible whisper, all because he is beginning to forget what it was like. “Don't do this to yourself.”

She can't deny that what they shared in today's adventure did feel real to her. Those knowing smiles, those playful phrases, that stupid and ridiculous little act singing Daisy Bell.

Pomni doesn't want to suffer, but she doesn't want to give up yet either. And it is with that tiny fragment of resolve that she sets out to face him once again.

    Pomni looks at Jax.

    Jax doesn't look at Pomni.

Well, actually, he does, with those huge yellow eyes fixed on the little glitches covering her hand.

    Summary

In Dragon Valley, there are only variations of red, orange, gray, and brown. In a land where destruction is the ultimate goal, one cannot expect a diversity of colors associated with life.

Still, the first thing Fire Spirit Cookie sees is white. But not the blinding white of the most intense fire, no. It is a soft, welcoming white.

[Or also, the encounter between Fire Spirit and Wind Archer is slightly different.]

    Summary

“But that shouldn't matter,” she protested. "You are our friend, mine and Kris's. What does your value out there matter? For us, here and now, you are irreplaceable."

The prince's heart warmed at her words. So kind, so concerned, a friendship that had long exceeded his expectations, even making him forget that wanting more from it made him a selfish creature.

Carefully, he placed his hand on hers. Susie didn't pull away, deciding to accept him once again. "I love you too, Susie. I really do," he whispered. “That's why I don't want you to worry.”

    “I want to help you.”

“Come on, young man, I really want to hear what you have to say.”

The prince shrinks back, wrinkling his robe with his hands. “But... this isn't right.” His face is burning. “I don't want to hurt anyone.”

Gerson shakes his head, pouring the water neatly.

The yellow one looks at him with kindness and understanding. “You won't.”

    Summary

It may seem obvious, especially when the entire philosophy of the Dark Worlds is based on absolute devotion to the Light World and its inhabitants, but Ralsei loves them. He truly loves them in a selfish way, with desires unworthy of an inert object like himself, a fantasy born of desires from an illuminated world.

Perhaps that is why Ralsei, for the first time, does not understand. He does not understand Kris's muffled cry or Susie's broken expression.

From a logical point of view, there are no other options left. SOUL should resign itself and wait for the beginning of something new, a new adventure, a new fountain.

The SOUL shines behind them, Kris can't say when it got there.

A second later, the infernal lava burns inside them with an intensity that seems sadistic.

    Its gaze? On the headband.

Shaky, shuffling steps, a duel between the original owner and an invading SOUL willing to do anything. Even as Kris makes their best efforts, their hands holding each end of the headband, a morbid grimace forms on its lips.

[Or something that shouldn't be there appears in front of Kris.]

"You prioritized your family's blood before that of your enemy's son. There is no misjudgment in that choice."

    Odysseus sighed. "I know."

Her warrior looks at her, unsure of responding. His patroness watches him silently, expectantly.

    Summary

Odysseus of Ithaca, the sovereign king who returned home after endless challenges and tragedies, had too much unfinished business with this divinity.

    Resentment, disbelief, disappointment.

What surfaces in him when he hears her scream is completely different.

The mortal squeezes the dirty cloth so hard that it begins to leak.

    Summary

"And can you assess beyond whether something is virtuous?" He didn't want to, he really wasn't in the mood to get into an argument with a divine being like her. His heart did not obey, and his next words were blunt, “Will you appreciate imperfection as much as you do perfection?"

The goddess Athena does not respond to his provocations, but only lowers her head in thought.
