Summary
The year was 2001. The town's name was Wondong-si, which was a hill.
It was chaotic, it was loud, and it was the best thing that ever happened to any of them.
Among its residents was a board game café that closed at eight and had never been empty at eight, because the woman who ran it believed the closing time was for people who didn't live here. Two mothers who had been best friends for fifteen years, mostly by arguing. A grandmother who took people in without ever discussing it and sent them out with bags. An aunt who was right about everything and was never once listened to. A monk who baked chocolate buns for whoever climbed that far up. A large house at the top of the hill with all its lights on and nobody in it.
And nine girls who had been in each other's kitchens since they were six and were about to leave to start a new chapter in their lives.
You will laugh. You will eat well. You will not be told a single time that anybody loves anybody, because nobody on this hill has ever said that out loud and nobody is going to start now.
