“What are you two up to?” He looks between them skeptically. Kaname laughs behind his hand.
“Rest assured, we aren’t ‘up’ to anything,” Kaname says, his cool inflection more villainous than reassuring. “We just decided that whatever disagreements occur or have occurred between ourselves, they’ll have no bearing on our feelings for you or how we act upon them.”
A cog turns in Zero’s head because are they for real? “...What?”
Yuuki kisses the corner of his mouth a hair's breadth away from his lips, an action that catches Zero so off guard he almost fails to register Kaname’s hand, still so unreasonably warm, caressing his cheek. It isn’t until the fourth time Ichiru calls his name that the rushing, swirling mess of emotions, thoughts, and hormones have calmed down enough for him to respond.
Kiryuu Zero hadn’t intended to become the epicenter of a love triangle straight out of a shoujo manga, but when it came to the Kurans, realism was as much of a pipe dream as the hope that one day they’d stop fighting over him—and each other.
