"You, firefighter Buckley, are now Interim Captain for A-shift, station 118, effective immediately.” Buck pursed his lips, seeing the hard look in the man’s eyes telling him to keep his mouth shut. “When all of them, Captain Nash, Paramedics Wilson and Han, and Firefighter Diaz, the whole A-shift clique, are cleared medically, you will no longer be part of their team.”
“Are you temporarily promoting me and firing me at the same time?” Buck asked incredulously.
“No, I am not. You will no longer be part of their team, because you will report directly to me. You will become a floater at whatever station I tell you you are floating at for whatever duration I direct. You have the most qualifications and certifications of any firefighter in LA, only missing your paramedic certification. I was informed you would pass if you ever actually applied for and took the exam.”

“And I don’t get a say?”
“Not if you want to remain a member of the LAFD.” Chief Simmons said with finality. They stared at one another for a few more tense moments before the Chief straightened up and left Buck alone in the Captain’s office.

Scott was the one who called the meeting, which was how he knew he had officially lost control of the situation.
“I’m just saying,” he started again, “things keep going wrong. We used to be better at this.”
“We used to have someone who did all the homework,” Lydia muttered.
“And who thought about traps,” Kira added.
“And backup plans,” said Boyd.
“And bribed the janitor to let us into the boiler room so we could kill that sewer wraith,” said Isaac.
Scott blinked. “Wait, what?”
“Don’t worry about it,” Erica grinned. “Point is, Stiles handled logistics. All of them. Quietly. And you let him.”
Jackson, ever the tactful one, said, “You guys were codependent as hell and now your emotional support gremlin doesn’t come around and we’re all going to die.”
“Can we not call him a gremlin?” Derek growled.Or: The Pack realizes how much they relied on Stiles, but they believe they've lost him forever. Peter isn't helpful, so they come up with the most ridiculous ways to get him "pack" (hehe).

Summary
After the fight in the grocery store, Buck feels like he's causing too much damage so he drops the lawsuit and leaves LA, joining a hotshot wildland firefighter crew out of Montana. He's gone for six months until he gets a call from Chris that something is wrong with Eddie, causing him to race back home only to find a very confused Eddie instead of a hurt or depressed Eddie. Eddie talks him into coming inside for a beer and after that Buck can't bring himself to leave the Diaz boys behind again. But that doesn't mean he's ready to talk to anyone else yet. So they just don't tell anyone else Buck is back. For over two years. Even when they start dating.
Three years after he left LA and the 118, there's a pileup on the 210 in La Tuna Canyon Park and a wildfire racing towards all the crews scrambling desperately to get everyone out in time, including the 118. Buck's crew is in the right place at the right time, and they don't hesitate to come help.

Summary
“How is it?” Tommy dares to sound hopeful, watching Buck set down the cup on the counter beside them.
“Yeah,” Buck starts, feeding into Tommy’s hope momentarily. “That’s actually so much worse.”
Tommy’s hope goes tumbling away. He’s almost at a loss. “What’s worse? What part don’t you like?” He attempts to extrapolate any information from Buck that he can, but this is Buck he’s talking to. Literal tooth pulling might be easier at this point.
“No, rules are rules. You get nothing. I figured yours out on my own so you have to figure out mine on your own.” Buck offers a smirk. Tommy's already trying to figure out how to get closer to figuring out Buck’s coffee. His plan might involve some outside help
Buck and Tommy make a deal, figure out each other's coffee order so they can get to know each other better. Tommy struggles to figure out what it is Buck does and doesn't like, so he enlists the help of the rest of the 118 to give him hints. But, when he finally gets the help he needs, Eddie ends up telling him more than just how Buck takes his coffee.
