There’s a pair of shoes in his entryway. They’re the worn leather loafers that Sae constantly offers to replace because they’re such an eyesore. Right beside it, he spots a coat on the hanger two sizes too big for him. A tear mars the cuff, which is new. Different.
And there’s still that humming – disjointed and off-key, a melody Sae has heard in his ear and in his house far too often to know it as anything but his.
Tonight it sounds cheery. Pleased.
