Summary
“After you talk to her,” Will says softly, “and we’ve got an idea for what’s next, what if we went to the cabin for a few days?”
“If you don’t want to be here —”
“I said ‘we’ not ‘me’.”
“You also said you were collecting the pups from Cheryl.”
“That was before. She’ll be happy to keep ‘em a while longer. Her granddaughters aren’t going home ‘till Thursday so she welcomes the distraction.”
Hannibal gives a little squeeze. “Choosing me over the pack. Are you sick, Will?”
“I married you, didn’t I?”

Summary
Will Graham likes to be alone.
But if he were to reason to a stranger – explain why it is he likes to be alone, they would certainly come to understand that "like" is a placeholder (and that "alone" doesn't count for pets. Pets don't hold the same qualities of humanity, like leaving their dirty dishes in the sink, or using too much soap to do the laundry, or lying about whether or not they paid rent).
Or,
Will Graham has a realization while crawling through his new daily routine; Wakefulness, Pain, Mercy, then Sleep.

Summary
“...No shouting, please?” Hannibal requested, and for a second, Will could do nothing but stare at him in awe. It was Hannibal, of course it was, but his voice was so strangely delicate, breathy and higher in pitch. It was distinctly like being spoken to by a polite child.
A child. There was that thought again. Will’s eyes widened and his lips parted. Surely not, that couldn’t be possible.

Or, during a stressful night in a rundown shack post-fall, Hannibal's mind reverts to that of a child in order to protect himself

Summary
“Hannibal.” Alana says, her voice breaking on his name. It brings his attention back to her, and now he finds grief so powerful it hits him right against his ribcage. “Hannibal… It’s been days. I don’t think they’re going to find Will’s…” She pauses to swallow against the tears. “You didn’t kill him. I know you didn’t. But I don’t think he’s alive.”
“Will Graham is resilient.” He bites back, though the first strings of doubt are starting to creep across his senses, no matter how hard he tries to push them down. He looks away, not wanting to see her heartbroken expression. “He is resourceful and clever, and stronger than you believe.”
There’s another pregnant pause before she speaks again. “You were a psychiatrist, Hannibal. You know what the stages of grief are. You’re in denial.”
