Summary
Beleriand lies in ashes, and there is little left of Maeðros to sate Fingon.
Before him, Fingolfin had shared with Russandol a bitter and violent affair, all politick, all pragmatism.
Before him in turn, Maitimo of Aman had loved Fëanáro so very desperately, and had tried so very hard to anchor him.
These ruins, now - these living remains - are not good enough for Fingon. And oh, but Maeðros knows.

Summary
Tirion buzzes with news: Ñolofinwë and Fëanáro are due to re-embody, far off yet from the Dagor Dagorath when they were expected. King Arafinwë nurses ambiguous feelings. Lonely, incurably goodhearted, yet also full of bile and bitterness, he yearns for their return but also fears they shall be swift to cause trouble and bring tremours to his rule.
When the revenants, however, prove to be unnervingly placid - silent and unreadable - he contends with an even worse possibility. That they might not incite trouble at all. And then, would it even be them?
He must get a rein over these half-strangers. He must descry what secrets their odd demeanour veils.

Summary
Ambarussa and their friend, Aracáno, youngest and least looked after of the First and Second House, run away. Their fathers are clearly too engrossed in their miserable arms' race, and they might as well make their displeasure known in the melodramatic ways only young children can.
Fëanáro and Ñolofinwë must, thereby, co-operate to find and coax out the runaways.
Two bitter, stressed men riding alone in endless warm prairies leads to some intense conversations, a tension that is perhaps becoming a little suspect, and some— reassessments.

Summary
Turucáno finds a slumbering blonde by his chambers and, disoriented and miserable in his re-embodied vessel, mistakes her for his estranged wife. He is already in-flagrante, claiming what he believes rightfully his, when he recognises a different Vanya beneath him - Indis, Queen Dowager, mother of his father.
Not all is lost, however, for it seems they desire much in common. Turucáno likes a wife pliant; kept well-disciplined. Indis favours a willful and authoritarian man. Not to mention, the pious Dowager holds alluring ideas, about this new Gondolin Turucáno wishes to build. And it could use a Queen.
Their affair only gets worse from there.

Summary
"But I believed that however thoroughly violence mars the map, there remained small territories it could not occupy, like the miller's daughter in Sirion who hid seventeen children in her cellar, or the Fëanorian soldier who looked inside and told his commanding officer that it housed only bags of flour. Even when massacres were framed as requirements, there persisted those minor refusals, those unrecorded divergences from inevitability."

"My great-aunt Batshiba used to read me a story about an ancient elf who had a tail," Bilbo offered Fëanor placidly, before giving him a piercing look. "Was that you?"

Unfortunately, said editor in chief happens to be Bilbo Baggins.Series

Summary
"To make the choice a father should make if he wishes to be named a father, if he wishes to retain the title, to say yes, if I had the choice, then I would choose to not be homosexual if it means my son Elros would be alive today, it would require that I declare Fingon never deserved his place in my heart. That I stand with my back to the sea and sink our very lives as nothing but a shipwrecked fantasy. It should be so easy. A father must forever put his children first, before all. You know this, Elrond. But we were five years old when we met, Finnu and I. How can I cast those children from my heart?”
_____________
One night on the cliff-house porch, Comrade Maedhros tells Elrond where exactly fatherhood lay upon his list of regrets, and what exactly he meant when he told Professor Gil-galad that he "was not a gay, but a Communist".Series
