Эхо помнил только боль и страдания. Белый яркий свет резал глаза, тело горело и не слушалось, словно было чужим. Он чувствовал тяжелые кабели, подключенные к его голове, и как порт машины обхватывал вращающийся скомп. Эхо сражался с компьютером, не желая ему подчиняться. Сопротивлялся, потому что это было все, что он мог сделать в своем положении.
Его постоянно меняли и совершенствовали. Время перестало иметь значение. Только работа и программный код.
А однажды появился кто-то еще. Робкий импульс где-то на периферии. Он неуверенно потянулся к этой новой форме жизни — и тот ответил, приветствуя. Кто это — он не знал. Но чувствовал радость, словно встретил давно потерянного брата.

“Turn around,” the person says. Most likely female, older. Thick accent.
Kix swallows. Anger bubbles in his throat along with the ever-present paranoia, and he debates on whether or not he should do as she says. Ithano hasn’t turned his head, but he knows he’s watching him out of the corner of his eye. Waiting. Seeing if and when he needs to intervene.
He decides to comply, if only to see the face of who’s asking, and when he does, his heart palpitates.
Rex, he thinks, then, no. Not him.

Out of every result he could've predicted for the Anaxes mission, being invited into Clone Force 99 was not exactly one he'd put much thought into. That one's more along the lines of, 'never expected in the slightest'.
Echo wonders, sitting in the Marauder, whose idea it was to take him in. It’s not like Hunter sprung it on all of them at once right then and there.
