In order to win the festival and keep Father from pulling me out of the hero course, I have to contend with: the non-hero course students who want to take my spot, the other hero class jealous of 1A’s attention, the rest of my own class full of powerful quirks and experience fighting villains, including my childhood bully who’s never lost anything in his life, and my asshole half-brother with one of the most powerful quirks I’ve ever seen, a decade of training on how to use it, and a lifetime of barely repressed hatred he’s been waiting for an opportunity to unleash on me. All in full view and judgement of millions of people, including my teachers, hero scouts, my mentor the number one hero who wants me to declare myself his successor, my horrible father who will surely turn on me if anyone finds out he is my father, and my Mom who’s scared of me getting hurt. And I have to do all that using a quirk I can’t control without breaking my bones. He crouched down and silently screamed into his hands. I am going to die!"

    Nearly two people die every second.

    Those souls are counted on an abacus that extends beyond what a human can comprehend. Those same souls are weighed, and each of their values, beliefs, and actions are examined. Then, they are placed into one of the three planes of the underworld.

    A young man sits at a desk. He counts. He sorts. He mutters. He mumbles. He pushes green curls from his face as he quickly sorts each soul.

    With a swish of white fabric, the soft low hum, and their bare feet on grass as flowers bloomed around him. A beautiful- no- the most beautiful creature Izuku had ever seen stepped into view. A god, obvious by his sheer presence. The slight golden glow to his fair skin. Long white robes adorned his body. Red and white dual-colored hair ran down his back to his ankles, the front braided from his face as flowers grew through it. He turned to face the direction Izuku was in, giving him a good look at his face.

    Narrow jaw, soft eyes of blue and gray. Soft pouty lips with a perfect cupid’s bow. Around his blue eye, a garish red scar. But if anything Izuku was only more entranced.

    He hesitates at that. But in the end, he shakes his head again.
    “I see,” Izuku says. “Is it someone you need to help?”
