Summary
In this world of Heroes, it's so easy to reach out a hand and help another up. In this world of Villains, it's so easy to tear another down.
It all starts, when Shouta Aizawa finds a young boy dying on the streets. As the police rush to find the boy's attacker, Shouta suddenly finds himself in a position to care for a child who is scared, traumatized and in desperate need of a parental figure. It’s only temporary he tells himself. At least, that’s the plan.
As each new turn in the investigation continues to add complication after complication, Shouta finds himself increasingly concerned for his young charge – and unwilling to give up a responsibility he wasn’t sure he wanted in the first place.

“Just think about it for a moment, o-okay?” he forces himself to stutter unsurely. “You could always--could always try playing a different game. It’s m-more fun to test the limits of th-the rules anyway. There’s always more than one way to play it.” Izuku’s lips twitch into a scared but reassuring smile.
Shigaraki’s eyes close and his real hands move to the final one on his face. Izuku holds his breath. Ultimately, they go back down and leave the appendage there. Tomura unconsciously sags and he squints at the boy only a few feet away from him.
“...I’ll pause the game for a bit here, Kumo. Our time together is up,” Tomura sneers. He clenches his fists and backs into the alley behind him. “Kurogiri!” the man yells into the sky. The smell of ozone fills the air and Izuku’s ears pop when the portal opens right behind Shigaraki. He steps back and falls through it with a subtle nod.
The portal closes with a gust of wind and all goes still.
