When Harry end up at King's Cross the first time, he is a lot more angry at Dumbledore and a lot less willing to accept his vague waffling about things only being as real as Harry believes it is. Harry didn't mean to get sent back to 1945, but apparently his shiny new title doesn't really give a shit if he meant it or not. Go figure, story of his life anyway.
Since Harry needs to figure things out, he gets himself hired at Borgin and Burke so he could figure out what the whole Master of Death bullshit was and keep an eye on Tom who was also just hired. 'We get along alright,' would be Harry's polite way of explaining their working relationship, but Tom would say 'the annoying bastard that knows more than he should.'
Tom would also say 'short, dark, and mysterious,' but damned if he is going to tell anyone besides Nagini what exactly it was that he wanted to do with Harry (or have Harry do to him) since it wasn't like Nagini could tell anyone. Plus people found it unnerving when he spoke to his companion, and he wanted to keep the Peverell bastard unnerved.
Nagini just wishes Tom would work through his crush and sexual frustration without involving her, thank you very much.
