Adam and Warlock spend spring break with their Godfathers, and make a plan to uncover the demon's True Form. Adam had been thinking about it all night, and he announced the next morning that they would almost certainly have to anger him. He suggested either scratching the Bentley or making fun of Aziraphale. Warlock strongly objected to both tactics, saying that awakening The Beast would not be worth it if they both ended up dead.

This was apparently one of those sleeps. Aziraphale hated those sleeps, because one never knew how long they’d last. He would only find out about them later on, after he’d sat around, lonely and miffed for weeks or years or decades.
He wondered whether his presence was an intrusion, a violation of Crowley’s privacy. But this time, they’d had plans! Also, Aziraphale had just worn Crowley’s body for almost a full day, which had been rather… intimate. So, in that light, he felt somewhat justified barging in. Now, he was standing in Crowley’s private sanctuary, watching him sleep.
He should go.
Crowley was so lovely.
He should definitely go. -

It all starts out so innocently, “palm to palm” in the first act. Then, it’s nothing but a torturous, slow descent toward heartbreak and oblivion. Aziraphale could see the writing on the wall, and he refused the fate which was playing out before them. Unfortunately, Crowley wasn’t going to understand, and simply could not be trusted to keep himself in check. The soft-hearted demon sniffling at his side was nothing but a liability. It was all going to be up to him. -
