Summary
Anakin Falls on the battlefield, on a small dusty planet in the Mid Rim that’s largely unimportant in the grand scale of the war. His men are dying in scores around him, screaming, spilling their guts onto the pockmarked ground, and something that has been pulling tighter and tighter over the course of the war, over the course of his whole life—between one decapitated droid and the next, something snaps in his chest. He doesn't know it, but he's more than a year early.
Or: Anakin navigates the path from straight up not noticing, to denial, to buying a pair of ugly sunglasses to hide his unfortunate Darksider eye condition, to a number of Sith lords dying in uniquely creative ways. If he reaches acceptance, it just might save the galaxy.

“And me, obviously,” Jiang Cheng grumbles. Wei Ying whips around to stare at him.
“Oh,” Yanli says, a blanket of relief rolling across her face. “Oh, of course.”
“You can’t,” Wei Ying hisses at him, looking more panicked now than he has all night. “Your mother—”
“Okay, first of all, don’t tell me what I can and can’t do,” Jiang Cheng bites back, prickly with worry for the Wens and worry for his idiot brother. “Secondly, you, going by yourself, is not an option. It’s off the table. It was never on the table. Stupid,” he adds, on principle.
Wei Ying’s friends are at rock-bottom, and he puts his life on hold to help them put theirs back together. To absolutely no one’s surprise except Wei Ying’s, his family goes with him.

The Jedi were not perfect, they made mistakes. When Shaak Ti realized the extent of the misunderstanding surrounding Anakin Skywalker, she vowed to correct it any way she could. Starting with taking him as her Padawan. She knew his training would be different than any other Padawan she had. Not because some silly ide of him being the Chosen One, but because he would need support in a way a child who grew up in the creche wouldn't. He would need extra affection and friendship that doesn't come from a Master. He would need the guidance of a friend, and there was no one better suited for that role than Obi-Wan Kenobi.
