Summary
“I,” Xie Lian says. He’s breathless, dazed. Hua Cheng loves him like this—loves him in all ways, all the time, but certainly like this. However, there’s something else beneath Xie Lian’s watery eyes and ragged breaths. He swallows thickly, then one of his hands is moving along Hua Cheng’s arm to his chest. His fingers brush lightly over the skin there, skimming just above Hua Cheng’s right nipple, and his eye flutters closed at the sensation.
And then, just as quickly as the feeling came, it disappears. He opens his eye, expecting to see Xie Lian drawing his hand away.
Instead, Xie Lian’s hand is splayed across the left side of his chest. Between his pointer and middle fingers is the hole that never went away.
“It’s grown,” Xie Lian says. “It’s still growing.”
“Oh,” Hua Cheng says, because he doesn’t know what else to say. Of course, he already knows that the hole has grown. He’d spent an hour yesterday, while Xie Lian was peacefully dozing in his lap, trying to heal it.
The Ghost King's body begins to rot. Xie Lian tries his best to figure out why.

“Shush!” he whispers, hiding his face behind his to-go cup. “I do not have a thing for him!”
“You’re attracted to him,” Yin Yu says.
“Well, um. Yes.”
“Would you date him if you had the chance?”
Xie Lian blanches, which is impressive considering the fact that every drop of blood in his body had been flooding his cheeks just a moment ago. “I don’t know! What sort of question is that?!”
“So, that’s a yes.”
“It was not a yes!”
“Which means that I was right,” Yin Yu continues, ignoring his friend’s splutters of protest. “You have a thing for Hua Cheng.”

Summary
Black Water Sinking Ships is a pirate. One of the most feared of his time, to be precise.
“Oh,” Shi Qingxuan says. “Hm. Okay.”
“Okay?” White Beard shouts indignantly again. “That’s all you have to say?! Have you not heard of our captain before?!”
“I’ve heard of him. Who hasn’t heard of Black Water Sinking Ships? I’m just not particularly scared of him.”
He tilts his head up to stare at Black Water, whose mouth presses into a thin line. Black Water squints down at him in return, then stands. The crew members gathered in the room bow their heads, but Shi Qingxuan keeps his stubbornly raised as he stares right into Black Water’s captivating, freakishly golden eyes.
“You aren’t scared?”
Or; Being the second son of a rich merchant family puts a special kind of target on Shi Qingxuan's back. When the infamous pirate Black Water Sinking Ships decides to try his luck at kidnapping Shi Qingxuan with the intent of holding him for ransom, nobody expects friendships—nor love—to bloom as a result.
