“We should pull over,” her voice was annoyed now as she picked at the chipped polish on her nails and glanced in his direction.
Dutch sighed, his eyes finding the fuel gauge and doing the math in his head. The rain wasn’t letting up and it was getting dark. Better to stop now than risk running out of gas in the middle of nowhere.
“Yeah, I know,” he squints against the downpour happening on the windshield and looks for somewhere to pull over.
“You didn’t seem to know ten miles ago when I first suggested it,” Laney huffs slightly and looks at him fully now. “We’re running out of habitable stops and I doubt we have enough gas to make it to the next town,” she folds her arms across her chest. “Unless you have some other grand plan, Mr. Van Der Linde?”
