„Das ist es.“, stimmte sein Freund zu. „Ein sehr viel besseres Ende als ich lange Zeit dachte, dass wir es bekommen würden.“

Summary
The first thing Erestor remembered were the stars. There were hundreds, thousands, millions of them standing above him in the sky, and they were the most beautiful thing he had ever seen. Those first days, weeks, months, perhaps even years that he spent with the others by that lake where they had awakened later felt more like a dream than something that had truly happened. They called themselves the Quendi, those who spoke with voices, but among themselves they also called each other the Children of the Stars, for the stars were the first and the most beautiful thing they had ever seen.

Das erste, woran Erestor sich erinnerte, waren die Sterne. Es gab hunderte, tausende, Millionen von ihnen, die über ihm am Himmel standen und sie waren das schönste, was er je gesehen hatte. Diese ersten Tage, Wochen, Monate, vielleicht sogar Jahre, die er mit den anderen an diesem See verbrachte, an dem sie aufgewacht waren, fühlten sich später eher an wie ein Traum als wie etwas, das wirklich passiert ist. Sie nannten sich die Quendi, diejenigen, die mit Stimmen sprachen, aber unter sich nannten sie sich die Kinder der Sterne, denn die Sterne waren das erste und das schönste, was sie jemals sahen.
