Dating back to Shadow Milk’s time, perhaps this will let him break past the other’s shell and finally make have the other take him up on his offer of friendship! All he has to do is follow these steps, and they should be friends in no time, as the book says!
Shadow Milk, for his part, is thrown by his counterpart suddenly flipping the script and trying to woo him.

It was when you grew still, your breathing slowed and you teetered on the brink of sleep that you’d feel Anya begin to shift.
Slowly, so slowly, she’d roll over, scooting closer until her forehead was pressed between your shoulder blades and her knees drew up to touch the back of your thighs. She would pause, and once she determined you were still asleep, her hands would draw up to the bottom of your sleeping shirt and grip it, holding the hem captive with long, tapered fingers that ghosted along the bare skin of your back.

It's been three years since Willow moved to Pelican Town. The experience has been wonderful and she'd come to love the Valley and everyone in it - it finally started to feel like home. But... being the adventurous type, and having thought that she had discovered all that the town, and the surrounding areas, had to offer, she was getting bored. Life felt mundane, and uninteresting even with magic. It wasn't the monotony of Joja, but it was becoming just as soul sucking. So, when she finds a strange black card in her mailbox from the mysterious "Mr.Qi", and realizes that there might be a lot more to this little Valley than she had originally thought, she's elated to start to unravel the deep buried secrets of her home. Unfortunately for her, there's a lot more than she bargained for, and more than she ever wanted to know.
