Summary
Alastor reached for the top button of Lucifer’s shirt.
And froze when a hand caught his wrist.
Lucifer’s eyes were open again. Steady. Soft. But firm.
Alastor’s stomach dropped.
He pulled back, just a fraction—just enough to see Lucifer’s expression—but it was too late. The disappointment hit first. Then the ache. And beneath it all, the simmering shame for having hoped too much.Series

Summary
“Are you still blaming yourself for what happened last week?”
Lucifer stiffened immediately, the reaction betraying him before he could stop it.
“There’s no reason to—” Alastor began.
“I’m not,” Lucifer cut in, too quickly. The words tumbled out on instinct, and he almost regretted them the moment they were spoken. It was the easier answer—the safer one. He hesitated, then added, quieter, “At least… not anymore.”
The hammock creaked softly, and the space between them filled with everything Lucifer hadn’t said yet.
“What is it, then?” Alastor asked gently.
Lucifer’s fingers tightened in the fabric of Alastor’s coat again before he gave up trying to hold himself together. He buried his face against Alastor’s chest, pressing his forehead there as if he could hide inside the steady warmth.
“I was scared,” Lucifer whispered, the confession so soft it almost dissolved into the space between them.Series
