The setting is the First Siege of Imladris during the Second Age, during the War of the Elves and Sauron that overran Eregion.
Erestor faces north in front of a hexagonal stone arcade supported by uniquely carved columns. The Last Homely House is visible behind the arcade's arches in the distance. Fires from the siege of Sauron's forces at the Ford of the Bruinen have turned the sky unnatural colors.
Highly intelligent advisor and scholar Erestor is a repository of wisdom from the court of Lindon and possesses many skills involving extreme dexterity. He has some ability with a bow and light ranged weapons, but his gifts do not lie with combat (to be polite). His awkward stance holding the bow and tense posture reflect this.
Elrond ordered him to stay at the Homely House with the few support staff also unable to fight with skill; he stands watch. Should the worst happen he will be among the last defenders, or maybe they can all try to flee...?
The sun lowers in the western sky while fires from the siege and fighting at the mouth of the valley pollute the sky.
