"I said leave," he sneers, and it's just the perfect combination of condescension and arrogance and contempt that he feels sick to his stomach. "And it's Regulus. Not Reggie."

"She's dead," he blurts out, numbly, before he can stop himself. His voice sounds foreign and unfamiliar to his own ears.
Mickey's brows pinch together. He looks troubled, and a very detached part of Ian wants to smooth down that crease in his forehead and kiss his worries away. "Who is?"
Ian chokes up, his mouth dry, his chest heaving. "Monica. She's– fuck." He drags his hands – they're shaking, so fucking badly – through his hair, and tugs at it, hard.
This can't be fucking happening. This is– it's not–
The grim realization that takes over Mickey's features is all the fucking proof he needs.

But then Ian has Mickey's fuck hand held tightly between two of his own, and his touch grounds Mickey like it always does, and he finds himself yet again staring dumbly at his boyfriend's beautiful, freckled face.
"Mickey Milkovich," he starts, and fuck, Mickey's name has no right sounding this good coming out of Gallagher's mouth. "Please, my darling Mick, treasure of my heart, will you do me the honors of granting me your toast?"

He couldn't be Laufey's son, he just couldn't. He was an Æsir, God of Mischief, prince of Asgrad - that's who he was his entire life, his whole identity. And Odin All-Father cannot simply take it all away from him, using two meaningless words-
He couldn't be. Loki refused to believe that.

“You should run away,” Regulus whispers and Sirius finds himself endeared, despite everything
“I don’t have anywhere to go,” Sirius whispers back.
Regulus does not know the details of what happened between Sirius and his friends last semester but Sirius thinks he might be close to understanding the severity of it. If it had just been a petty argument Sirius would have ran. He would have gone to James and let his friend keep him hidden and safe.
But it hadn’t just been an argument. Sirius had betrayed Remus and in doing so he had disappointed James as well and there was nothing he could do to make it right. He knows that if he went to James, he would let him stay despite it all but Sirius did not deserve his help. And on top of it all, it would have hurt Remus, who has always been unsure if James and Sirius loved him as much as they loved each other. Sirius does not want to hurt Remus again.
He will not hurt him again.

“You look terrible,” Harvey said casually as Mike stepped into his office.
Mike blinked. “Good morning to you too.”
Harvey didn’t look up from the file in his hand. “I assume you’re either hungover or dying. If it’s dying, schedule it for after 6 p.m. I have a deposition.”
Mike huffed, but it came out weak. “I’m fine.”
Harvey’s eyes flicked up then, assessing Mike. His skin was pale, even under the warm lights of the firm. There was a faint flush high on his cheeks. His movements were just slightly slower than usual. So, maybe not hungover.

Or, Mike comes into the firm obviously sick and headache-ridden. Harvey takes it into his own hands to make sure nobody gives him shit for it. Nobody except himself.
