    The deserted street was a graveyard of ice walls. From somewhere at their center, bursts of electric red flashed, staining the ice like blood. 

    Wiping viciously at his scrape, Katsuki launched up with an explosion. If Shouto was still dealing with laser bitch, it meant Katsuki had gotten the easier of the two villains. It couldn’t hurt to give him an assist. Besides, Aizawa had spent the better part of the last three years drilling into all of their brains the importance of effective teamwork. 

    Katsuki was close enough to hear the sounds of fighting when his comms crackled to life. “Katsuki.” Shouto’s voice was gravelly and he sounded out of breath, somehow wrong. The sound struck Katsuki like a jolt, and it had him rocketing forward, no longer concerned with a stealthy approach. Something had happened. What the fuck could have happened?

    Almost there.

    When the comms crackled again, the sound of pained breaths came through, and then, “-shit.”

    Fuck this. The ice walls were higher near the center, but Katsuki wasn’t about to waste time going over. With one palm facing forward and the other angled back, Katsuki blasted a hole through the first wall, then the second.

    Universal wavefunction theory dictates that when a problem has more than one possible solution, they are not alternatives, but simultaneous outcomes.

    For instance: when a boy tells you he loves you, there are many responses, but mostly two: acceptance or rejection. These seem to be contrary possibilities, as if one ought to be rendered impossible by the other’s eventuality.

    Everett-DeWitt theory posits that a new universe is created with every choice, every juncture. It says that all possible outcomes must occur, and at the point of divergence, the universe splits itself.

    One Katsuki, now two.

    Deutsch-Schrödinger theory says that there are many identical universes, filled with many identical boys in love with another boy, and they remain identical up to the point where he confesses. Then in some universes, you reject him, and in others, you accept him. From that moment on, the paths are changed from the point of common history.

    Infinite Katsukis.

    All this to say that in one universe, you probably love him back.

    Katsuki grapples with love and many-worlds interpretation theory. The former is more difficult. / quantum mechanics + soulmates

    Hitoshi and Bakugou get into a friends-with-benefits relationship that grows faster than Hitoshi is ready for. He can't meet Bakugou's expectations for a commitment, and after their "breakup," they lose touch. Several years later they're reunited when Ashido insists on stopping by the little occult shop Hitoshi works at, which belongs to his Papa. She makes a really dumb decision, and Hitoshi finds himself along for the ride. He takes the opportunity to make things right with the man he lost.

    Bakugou thinks his brain might have short-circuited. He feels lightheaded, heart jackrabbiting in his chest.

    “Of course I’m okay—why the fuck are you confessing?!” he demands, only slightly hysterical.

    (Todoroki is exhausted. He may jump to some conclusions.
    Bakugou hates hospitals. They bring the sappiest shit out of people.)

    Bakugou stroked Todoroki’s thigh. Todoroki had been a very straightforward teenager; Bakugou didn’t know the man very well but he suspected this facet of his personality had not greatly changed. “That depends,” he said. “Would you say yes if I were?”
