Summary
There’s a world in which there was no Homunculus, in which Xerxes never fell and continues to prosper as the birthplace of modern alchemy into the present day.
But the Golden Kingdom is tainted with the blood of an enslaved community that has never been freed. Against the backdrop of revolution beginning in the desert, Izumi Curtis takes in two young alchemical prodigies after the death of their mother.
It soon becomes clear to her that Ed and Al are hiding something, and as Izumi investigates their missing father, she realises that the Xerxian Rebellion is closer to home than she thinks.
(Many writers more talented than I have tackled the idea of Ishvalan Trisha and Ed and Al hiding their background, so here’s a variation, whereby it’s their father’s lineage they have to hide…)

Summary
“What are you doing here? This is my ER, this is my workplace, I am not entertaining whatever it is you think you're doing.” Robby stared at John, incredulous, and asked again, “Why are you here?”
“You know, if you answered your phone once in a while you might have an idea,” John replied, raising his eyebrows at his older brother, “I’m sure someone told you that there would be a visiting doctor today; you had to have gotten a memo as the ED chief, right?”
~~
Carter joins The Pitt for a week of observation in the ED as a prospective Chief Resident candidate. Robby is less than thrilled to have his kid brother underfoot again. Both men aren't exactly what the other remembered. Maybe Michael isn't the hero Carter thought he was. Maybe it wasn't all John's fault.

Summary
John heard as Hosea returned from town, and he cursed God as Abigail and Hosea headed for his tent with his pale, nausea-ridden son.
What he didn't expect was how small the boy looked in Abigail’s arms. She leaned over setting him on a cot Hosea laid out.
The poor boy shivered and sneezed, the smallest, highest pitch sneeze John ever heard from someone other than Dutch. Only coming from his son it was far cuter.
He fought a small smile at it, knowing Abigail would claw the heart out of his chest if she thought he was laughing at the boy right now.Bookmarked by Marieds

Summary
Shauna's first instinct was to imagine getting up and gripping Lottie’s shoulders hard enough to leave bruises, shaking her wildly, begging her to stop looking at her and her baby like that, stop caring so fucking much, just stop everything.
Lottie couldn’t be the person Shauna wanted. She was just Lottie. And Lottie was strange and powerful, and selfless and beautiful, and unsettling and kind, and…
--
or, six times Shauna trusted someone else with her baby, and one time she trusted Lottie with her baby and her heart.
