It was still quite warm, but he knew he would need to make a decision soon – pour more hot water into the bathtub or get out and change locations. Both meant having to move, which he was wildly opposed to.
At the very least, one of them involved a bed.
Out of nowhere, he felt the press of Baptiste’s lips against his bare shoulder. A soft chuckle rumbled in his chest and he turned towards the big man, pressing his temple to his forehead.
Aaron and Baptiste share a bath and make the most of it.
That is, until their cat decides they've had enough.

It's been over for many years now. Nature has bloomed once more. People have rebuilt their lives and moved on.
Baptiste tries.

‘I promise to come back and tell you everything I learn.’
His gaze slid downwards, to the lettering engraved by the lion’s feet.
Baptiste’s face fell a little, his gaze growing hollow. ‘See you later, Gabe,’ he murmured, then patted the slab of Gabriel’s grave and walked away to prepare for Dior’s visit. She was a saint after all. It wouldn’t do to invite her into a messy house.

Time flew as the blackthumb’s mind kept tearing itself between focusing on the finishing touches on the Scar and trying to sense when – and if – Aaron was watching him.
Eventually, he saw that there were no more screws left, the obstacle course all but ready to be used after Argyle’s final inspection.
He suspected he was, from the corner of his eye.
The blackthumb bit his lip, took a deep breath and hauled his shirt off, fighting off a shiver in the cold air. His muscles strained, the chymical globes' light reflecting off of the sheen of sweat on his skin, skipping briskly between the broad planes and sharp divots.
Baptiste's blacksmithing talents haven't gone unnoticed, and they lead him to a task at the Gauntlet - and to the beautiful lad he's fallen for months ago while simply shaking hands.
Oh, what he would give to know how his kisses taste...

Three nights of boundless crimson thirst,
Shall retrieve the lives dispersed.San Dior has ended daysdeath and all in Elidaen are awaiting the first dawn in nearly 30 years with bated breath. But unbeknownst to most, when the sun finally rises as it used to in days past, it will be over an earth unmarred by the vampiric scourge. Aaron de Coste and Celene Castia can feel the cold fingers of death finally catching up with them.
But like with most curses, there's a prophecy tied to it. A prophecy of hope for the damned and the mortals loving them.

Eventually, de Coste cleared his throat and stood up, returned the small phial and the pipe to the saddlebags, over-careful. He walked back to the window and with a final glance outside, closed the shutters.
‘It’s been a long day,’ he said. Normally, a dose would have him thrumming with energy begging to be spent, but some nights, all it did for him was soothe his frayed nerves. He blinked, then stifled a yawn. ‘And an even longer fortnight besides. I reckon it’s time to bed down.’
After leaving the Ordo Argent, Aaron and Baptiste look for a place to call their own. After weeks on the road, they end up staying the night at an inn - and as they lay down, they realise it's the very first time they are able to sleep together in one bed.
The revelation comes with a wave of emotions and the two naturally end up celebrating their newfound freedom.
And since it's a night of new beginnings, perhaps Baptiste might get to try something new as well - something that involves his paleblood lover's fangs and his own very willing body...

‘All that while I laughed in delight, rolling around in that bastard’s filthy bed,’ de Coste hissed, his blue eyes burning. ‘And those that remained, I took out of their cages, not to their salvation but to be slaughtered by monsters. Devils all, such as myself.
'Children, my love, I dragged these sweet, innocent children that looked up to me to their horrible deaths and couldn’t care less. And I did it all with these very hands, no less.

After the nightmare of Dún Maergenn, Aaron struggles badly with his role in the slaughter of his people. He has taken to matching the heartache with physical pain in order to punish himself. Baptiste has found out and does his best to help him through it but Aaron's despair is deep and nothing seems to change his views.
That is, until the right words come from an unexpected source. It's a long path to healing but perhaps Aaron will finally be able to take that first step.

He shot bolt upright, a strangled cry tearing from his throat. His chest heaved with his gasps, body covered in a sheen of sweat. His mouth dropped open but all he could manage was a choked wheeze. He stared at his hands in the darkness, tracing the outline of his fingers and seeing little more than the tremble wracking them.
(...)
The blade slashed through the air towards the throat, a feral snarl rippling from his chest as his face twisted with hate and cold fury. And then he froze, the dagger barely an inch from its target. A pair of baby blue eyes watched him, filled with concern, flickering briefly to the blade, betraying only a tinge of bewilderment.
Baptiste wakes up from a truly horrific nightmare and struggles to compose himself. Luckily for him, Aaron is right there with him, ready to comfort him in the blink of an eye.
And what better way to feel alive than fucking the love of your life.
AKA how Book Three of EotD should have ended.

Loving each other enough to let him go, Aaron and Baptiste decide to split up, fearful of how their forbidden relationship could end, should they ever be discovered.
As it turns out, parting ways is much harder than expected. Call it God's will or Devil's temptation but they just can't do it.

Krolia is an experienced member of the Blade of Marmora and due to her skills is often send off to infiltrate dangerous bases. During one of the raids she stumbles upon an abandoned human prisoner who's completely broken - tortured, dirty, starving and terrified, he won't react to anything or anyone.
She can't leave him behind, though. So she takes him with her to the Blade headquarters where she hopes her half-human son will be able to reach the man and at least calm him down enough to start eating and drinking again. She dares not hope for anything more, not after witnessing the state he was in.
But shocking revelations are made and the man appears to be someone so much more important than Krolia could have ever imagined. But if he can't return to his old self, is there any place for him in the war? Will he even be willing to fight the Galra and put his life in jeopardy again? Is anything in the universe worth the risk?
