Summary
A collection of things I still have a lot of fondness for, but will likely not continue.
Put here in one place for people to either read and know what they are in for in regards to completion, or to ignore, as it suits them!

Summary
In the beginning, Arthur had maintained a strict idea of how things would go.
He would, naturally, be dignified and princely.
Merlin, being a very emotional sort of creature, since he hadn’t had a father to teach him any differently, would have to do the confessing.

Summary
“Forget I said anything,” Merlin tried, failing to smother his snickering. He lowered his eyes to the ground, and bit down on his grin even as his shoulders shook with laughter. Neither of them was fooled. “Of course you’re not jealous. Why would you be? Just because Ser Erden is so very charming—”
“He is not—”
“And chivalrous—"
“I bet he beats his servants,” Arthur insisted, with no proof or reason. “And his dogs.”
“And handsome—”
“Handsome?!” Arthur shouted, so loud that it boomed in Merlin’s ears. He jerked his head up in surprise. Dark spots of red had bloomed across Arthur’s cheeks, flush and furious. “He is not! He’s—shut up, Merlin!”

Summary
In many ways, things are the same as ever.
It’s only… Well, back when Merlin still had things like secrets, or privacy, or self-respect, he would have thought that of the secrets, the magic would have been the one to truly catch Arthur’s interest.
But no. It’s the other secret that Arthur picks and plucks at.

Summary
The next time Arthur doesn’t say thank you, Gwaine puts his hand on Merlin’s back, stroking down the long length of it, from the short curls of hair at the nape of his neck to the neat cinch of his waist.
“Thanks,” he praises, throwing a wink to an agape Arthur as he does. It’s wonderful.
So wonderful, in fact, that for the next fortnight, for every brusque word that spills from Arthur’s lips, Gwaine spills three sweet ones.

Summary
“You’re horrible,” Morgana hisses at him quietly enough than only he and Gwen will hear, tugging at his cloak until it sits better across his shoulders. Her face never changes from her pleasant smile. Terrifying. “Straighten your back, you will not slouch! Gwen, tell him not to slouch!”
“Your Majesty,” Gwen says sweetly, “please do not slouch.”
“I highly doubt he’ll be looking at me,” Arthur drawls, “when he’s come all this way to marry you.”
(Arthur loses his father's trust, but he gains something better.)

Summary
“I’m the king,” Arthur says grumpily, swallowing around the stone that has settled in his throat, “I can wear what I want.”
“What about what I want?”
“I’m the king,” Arthur repeats slowly, since Merlin is being particularly thick, “and so you can also wear what I want.”
Or, Arthur dresses Merlin, which goes about as well as you would expect.

Summary
With a gasp, Arthur wakes.
He wakes to the warmth of the blankets around him, the sight of the stars above and Merlin’s hand grasping his. He wakes surrounded; by softness, by love, by light. Gasping in breaths, he wakes holding tightly onto Merlin’s hand, tethering himself to the word through that strong, sure grip.
He wakes and he’s not alone and everything's better.
He settles back down, his breath not quite steady yet, but getting there. He holds on tight to Merlin’s hand, looks up at the stars and lets himself drift back off to sleep, safe in the knowledge that he’s free.

Merlin and Arthur are held captive together for a month in the dark.
Back in Camelot now, the two face all they went through with the help of one another, their friends, and the night sky.

They say the druid in the forest who guards the sword in the stone has never woken. Unchanging, no matter the season, no matter how many years go by; lost in a dream that will only be broken by the Once and Future King.

“Well, we’ll just have to convince Arthur that’s not so bad, then,” Gwaine resolves. “I’m sure he can let you be a little magic, sometimes. On special occasions.”
Or, Gwaine comes back from a mission to find Camelot in chaos. He's got to fix everything by himself, as usual.

Summary
“I don’t have a crush,” he says, crashing back to earth with dreadful swiftness.
“Sure,” Percy says, in such a way as to suggest that Arthur is very lucky that it is Percy in here, and not Gwaine. It is a very expressive ‘sure’.

Summary
“We lived together before and we both survived, didn’t we?” Arthur doesn't take the bait.
“Barely,” Merlin answers, picturing their uni days. The first taste of living with anyone other than his mother or sleepovers with Will. It all made for strange, dreamlike memories, for all that it has only been a few years past.
He feels like a very old twenty five most times. He shouldn’t be this age and so tired.

Summary
“You’re like,” Merlin tries to explain it, if only so Arthur stops looking at him with that strange, unsure look, “a toothache.”
The new look on Arthur’s face is not a better one.
“A toothache?” he says, dead calm, “Are you serious? Are you honestly saying that you think being married to me would be like having a toothache? Merlin!”
“I’m going to bed,” Merlin says, bailing out now and ignoring all protesting sputtering, because this conversation is clearly a problem for future Merlin. He will soothe Arthur and make sure that he knows anyone would be lucky to be married to him, but in a really annoying way. Merlin will figure it out. Future Merlin, that is.
Not this one.
This one is already drooling onto his luxurious down pillow, blissfully unaware of what he has wrought.
