“I’m worried about you, ‘kay? I haven’t seen you in a long time.”
Shadow huffed, turning away, the only real color hidden from sight. “Define long.”
Sonic brushed the tip of his thumb against Shadow’s arm. He wishes he could reach him, to hold him and not let go until this feeling of uneasiness smooths over. He doesn’t want the feeling to fester, to worm its way back to a memory he’d promise to forget. If it happened again, he wouldn't be able to swallow it this time.
“Rouge said three months, Shadow. That’s enough for me.”
“For you?”
“Yes,” Sonic had to whisper to keep his voice from wavering, “always for me.”
Or Sonic goes to find Shadow when he’s been gone for a few months and it all eventually spirals from there when he figures out why.

Summary
“Who are you?” He reaches for it, trembling without even realizing it. The glow quieted into a softer amber that almost matched his fur, turning any pale features glossy. For a second, it mesmerizes him; staring and staring until he could imagine eyes. Smiling at him. Beautiful in a way he can’t put into words.
And the creature laughs. It laughed. Delight in comfortable warmth surrounds it, unlike the insufferable humidity of the weather.
“I’ve come to fix you! To make you well and in exchange, you must help me!” The ball of light begins to change form, shaping five corners that stick out from a base: resembling a star.
Tails audibly gasps, startling himself from the silence. “You’re really pretty. How…are you planning to heal me?”
“Easy,” the star answers, “to remove the sickness at the core!” It adds dramatic flair to each sentence, as any being of fire should since it didn’t have a body to express much.
OR in the aftermath of a strange battle, the race to stop a galactic threat was beginning to eat away at Tails’ psyche, though he could tell no one but the friends he made along the way. Also everyone else is freaking out. But we’ll get to that later:)

Summary
Sonic is still wearing off the phantom effects from the events of Frontiers while his friends continue to live the same life like nothing happened. The Starfall Islands had a different time zone than in the real world and not only does it give Sonic jetlag, but gives Shadow another pain in the ass to deal with.
I suck at summaries but the writing is better

Summary
The world was falling apart — cities in ruins, friends gone, hope running out. Sonic the Hedgehog thought Project RESET was their last chance to make it right.
It was supposed to fix everything: the bloodshed, the losses, the collapse of everything that mattered.
Instead, it rewrote reality… and left him alone with the memory of what came before.
Well, not completely alone.
Because the only other person who remembers the old world is Shadow the Hedgehog.
And together, they’re going to burn this new one to the ground.
