    “Uh, you okay?”

Chrissy jerks under the sink, head banging against the porcelain hard enough to rattle her skull.

Eddie Munson stands in the doorway, hands tucked in his armpits like he isn’t sure what to do with them. He stares at her for maybe half a second before his gaze darts to the graffitied wall.

Chrissy gapes up at him, his frame mostly a blur of shaggy hair and denim, before reality hits her and she scrambles out from under the sink, knees shaky and locked up from being tucked under for so long. “What are you doing in the girl’s bathroom?” She demands, swiping at her face like he hasn’t already seen her in what is quite possibly the lowest moment of her life.

Hey, at least it wasn’t with her fingers down her throat.

Eddie rocks on his feet, still avoiding her gaze, “I don’t have a good answer for that seeing as how this is the men’s bathroom.”

Chrissy feels the urge to gag again.

Something in the corner catches her eye.

    A fucking urinal.

-Toxic Yuri fic where Zanka and Jabber have been in a situationship for 3 years-

    Text Excerpt:

Zanka grabbed Jabber’s wrist above where her bracelets were and moved her hand and the beaker down. “Yer tellin me this is salt water? What happens if ya mixed it wrong?”

“Somethin, somethin, immediate and painful death~” Jabber cooed. “How much do you trust me, Zanka? You always did tell me I was a genius.”

Zanka felt trapped. Jabber’s eyes were locked in on her like she was reading her mind or maybe waiting for a change of expression that gave away if she was afraid. The beaker to her lips was a challenge, a test to see if Zanka was confident enough in her judgement. Now, Jabber had a hand behind Zanka’s neck and the other was slowly tilting the beaker.

For you, for me - he clutches the worn wood of the staff tightly to his chest, like a child seeking comfort in its favorite stuffed animal - I will not allow you to be ripped away from me.

When it's with him, his soul feels whole.

The massive hole is gone, the voices of doubt in his head quieted by the sensation of old wood against his palms.

    Summary

In Andio, the festival. Faces beyond human-and-animal, faces carved and painted and wrought, fantasy pinned down from flight, for once, made real. Helmets and masks and hoods and people-replicas, made from welded metal, patchwork plastic…carved of precious salvage-wood, creations with no purpose but beauty.

...Things that were made to be loved. The idea of a souvenir. The concept of art. A strange wanting, below her skin, beating like the wings of little birds in wrought brass cages…automatons with shining keys spinning in their backs. Hung through the air, plastic-lanterns lit with tinsellight, mirrorballs, the notes of song.

A thousand discordant voices in the chorus that sung, insistently, sung humanity, humanity, humanity enduring, humanity unearthed; humanity in the long arc of time, vice gripped to survival and cheering on in defiance. The drum-beat, the footsteps, the people, like her, arm in spinning arm, arm in arm in hand to heart--trip the light fantastic, this one night, this one day, this reverie--like she could breathe more air than there was to breathe.
