He could hear the General shouting at them and although his voice was shouting back too, he had no idea what either voice was saying. The only thing he was certain of, was that whatever he had just said, he knew his friends would back him up and their shouts of agreement were not only proof of that, it also helped him clear his mind.
This is basically "The Final Battle" scene written out of Enjolras' perspective

Grantaire gasped, a sound he would have been embarrassed by if it was not for several other members of the audience doing the same, feeling every single hair on his body stand up as his brain told him to run, run, run; towards the creature or far, far away, he was not sure.

Grantaire could not believe his ears. He knew Enjolras came up with at least three crazy ideas a day, but none as crazy as that one. Grantaire could deal with graffitiing official monuments, staging illegal protests in the Place de la Bastille or sabotaging army steamboats, but from there to becoming pirates was a huge leap. It was undoubtedly the craziest of his ideas.
And what was worse, everyone else seemed to agree with it.
“Okay, but why do I have to go with you? I've never been involved in any of this. I like my life here."
"You're the only one who knows how to sail.”

After a failed magnicide attempt and with the absolute certainty that the Guard knows absolutely everything about them, the rebel organization known as Les Amis de l'ABC decides to take to the sea as the only way to stay alive. In a kingdom subjugated under the tyrannical boots of a Monarchy whose control even feelings do not escape, they hope to find in piracy the freedom to continue opposing the regime... and also the freedom to live according to their own feelings.
