Izuku hadn’t initially been looking for a new apartment. But then Todoroki and Kacchan finally decided to put the literal years of sexual tension behind them and finally got together. And while they were really good about not rubbing their PDA in Izuku’s face, it was just...different. Almost sad, in a way, to see them share soft touches and forehead kisses and orbit in and out of each other’s space with total comfort and ease when Izuku didn’t have that.
Izuku wanted someone to want him like Todoroki and Bakugou wanted each other: wanted someone to spend lazy mornings with wrapped up in bed, wanted someone to share clothes and stories and kisses with, wanted someone to be there with him when the stress of being the Number 3 Hero at the tender age of 22 weighed on him like lead and turned his responsibilities into a noose around his neck. And he wanted to be there for them too in whatever way they needed him.

Summary
Aizawa (not sensei yet, but well-versed in the aftereffects of winning the UA Sports Festival as a teenager and as someone with a highly desirable mental Quirk) had been a great help with this fact immediately, coaching him on how to vary his paths of getting home, how to double back and confuse a pursuer, how to recognize he was being followed, and Hitoshi had soaked it all in like a sponge. And it had been good for a while, had even been fun for a while employing all of Aizawa’s tips and tricks especially when the man became his sensei.
His only complaint was that it added so much time to get home.
But then...Hitoshi started slacking off a bit. Just one less double-back, one less decoy route, one less false turn, one less look around him for pursuers. And eventually all those one lesses added up and suddenly Hitoshi was back to walking directly to and from UA.
He got complacent. And that was the beginning of his current predicament.
