That was not what he was saying, but looking at the tightness of Rome’s posture and the way he was staring resolutely directly ahead, he knew the damage had been done.

“Lanna music?” Mok asked curiously, when the speakers started streaming the soft notes of the salo.
Rome bit his lip. “You like it, right? You played it a lot the past few days.” He did like it. He had been born somewhere in Chiang Mai, had lived there for a few years.. and then his father had dragged him to Chiang Rai, selling him off for a petty sum to work in the agricultural fields. He didn’t have many good memories of his childhood, but listening to Lanna music always made him feel at ease, somehow.
