This would be an arguably more fun mission for Time to Die tbh. Like the stealth involved would be so interesting, running around but careful to avoid Damien as you do so he doesn’t catch on to the fact that you’re tracking the targets (unlike James here who was a bit too obvious <3)
Gave me a good laugh though so far! Looove the idea of Damien making his alias Danny just to be petty about the Gala.
Edit for Chap 2 release: Fire writing, fire plot. Damien’s such a hard character to do justice to and he’s perfect here, kudos!

Summary
The cruelest thing about the Nameless was that they made it so easy to pretend that Sunday belonged. They fed that greedy, stupid, childish thing that cried out from within him, tossing enough scraps of amity for him to piece them together into something that felt like home. The curtains only closed when Sunday lay awake at night and stared at the ceiling of the bedroom that wasn’t really his, and he remembered that it started like this and could only end like this: with him, alone in the dark.
Sunday is found by the Astral Express Crew after fleeing Penacony. He accepts their offer to join, and realizes that
a. fitting into this tight-knit group is likely impossible
b. trouble finds the Trailblazers no matter where they go.or, the chronicle of the Astral Express trying, failing, and trying again to fit Sunday into their family.

As someone who had heavily considered suicide and someone who feels like their eating habits are getting worse and worse (I do genuinely believe I might have ARFID, but as a 17 year old, it could still be ‘childish pickiness’ from my autism) this fic is like a soothing balm.
I have always heavily related to both Light and L for many many reasons, so seeing them slowly being able to cope and recover with things I rarely see well represented and personally struggle with, it makes it easier for me to stomach my own problems.
