Summary
Sam did his apology tour. Dean listened and tried to take it to heart. They shared pie, and tears, and a tentative plan to "get back on track" after the most critical break in communication of their lives reveals itself to run deeper than either could imagine.
Yet, apologies are not enough, and vague promises of amends to be made do more harm than good.
This is foundational, rot allowed to fester deep into the very structure of their relationship. They set out to fix it, because of course they do. But will this time be the one that proves that perhaps, fixing it might mean letting go? Once the dust settles, will they be able to find the person they have been fighting for under all the emotional debris that tore them apart?
A sequel to my work "All my I love you's (are left unsaid)" and recquires reading the first to understand this.

King Viserys I, in an uncharacteristic episode of foresight, deigns to no longer attempt to put a child upon his frail and ailing wife, instead content to name his only living child, Princess Rhaenyra, as heir to the Seven Kingdoms. For this act of bravery, the Gods themselves seem to bless His Grace’s reign, even if certain malcontents are set to burn the Realm to the ground rather than see a woman sit the Iron Throne.
Or; a hastily written “historical accounting” of everything chronologically from the conception of Prince Baelon (son of Viserys) to the end of Aegon III’s regency with one key difference: King Viserys named his daughter as heir and did everything in his power to secure her rise.

He had still believed them liars at the end, when he knelt before Lord Cregan Stark and his sword Ice, when he made his last request. “I’ll be going to warmer hells, if it please you,” he’d told the man, for at least the hells that would welcome him would be warmer than King’s Landing in that awful winter.
