“Hello?” A deep and gravelly voice shocked him out of his thoughts, causing him almost to drop his phone in surprise.
“Shadow!” Sonic exclaimed, relieved that the other hedgehog had picked up.“...” There was silence on the other end of the line for a moment before the other asked: “...Sonic? Is that you? What are you doing calling me at, ugh, 5am??” Sonic picked up on shuffling noises and assumed Shadow had gotten out of bed. “Actually- why are you calling me at all, we haven’t spoken outside of anniversaries in uh, fuck, how long’s been, like, ten years? …I didn’t forget anything…right?”
Sonic rushed to reassure him after hearing the uncertainty in the other’s voice, that was a sore subject for both of them; “No! No, you didn’t forget anything, it’s uhh,” and here’s where Sonic hesitated, he wasn’t exactly sure on how to explain the situation to Shadow. “It’s something else, I-” Sonic felt his eyes start to wander over to what—or rather who—was the catalyst for his sudden frantic 5am call to his old rival.
“Spit it out faker,” Shadow said, sounding more awake now.
“I found Silver."
“...oh shit.”

Summary
Set at the end of the hypothetical next arc where Pure Vanilla and co defeat fucked up Shadow Milk Cookie with the power of... um friendship isn't exactly what I'd call what their plan was but close enough.
Pure Vanilla cures Shadow Milk of all the voices in his head and brings him back from the brink before he destroys everything, but that doesn't mean that the jester is forgiven.
ft, shadow milk emotional breakdown part infinity but this time he get hit with reality, and Pure Vanilla putting his foot down on it being the blue boy's Last Fucking Chance.

“Hmph,” Shadow grunted, not answering the question as he released Sonic’s wrists from his grip and leaned back up to sit down solidly on his rival’s back. For some reason, he didn't want to get up as he stared mesmerized at the still bloody bite mark on the blue’s left shoulder.
Sonic said something, probably asking to be let up, but when he shifted underneath Shadow all the darker hedgehog was aware of was the abrupt spike of warmth the movement stirred in his stomach.

Summary
Working with each other in Operation Cleanup, a plan to rebuild the city after a particularly gruesome Eggman attack, Sonic and Shadow grow closer. Feelings come to a head during a hangout at Shadow’s apartment.
When Shadow gets called away for an inter-dimensional mission and Sonic has to care for his houseplants as well as communicate with him through Morse code, he realizes just how deep his feelings run. Who else would he go through all this trouble for?

Sonic felt his eyes go wide, mind stuttering to a stop. Shadow heard him? How? Did he not hang up the phone? His face went red, his whole body getting hot from embarrassment. He heard Sonic panting his name, begging for release, saying his name again and again. “Oh? Ya, just now,” Sonic had to play this off and had to get Shadow out of the house before he lost his mind.
(What if Shadow's written 'mine' on his upper thigh only in Sonic's mind?)
