The stone floor seeped cold through the linen of his trousers, and all of the tourney’s injuries seemed to flare up at once, pulsing dull pain down his body. For a frenzied second he thought they must shine underneath his clothes, visible for everybody in the room, but dismissed it momentarily – whatever glow they emitted, it was only meant for one other to see. Dunk saw the same injuries in Prince Maekar, and knew that their wounds reached out for each other.

Victor lives, and must go on. Doing so with his creation proves more difficult and complicated than he expects- especially when they barely know each other. But he has to start somewhere, and going back to Edinburgh seems as good a choice as any. Existing with his Creature is one thing, living with him is something else entirely...especially when one actually starts developing feelings.
