Summary
One time, on holiday with his parents, Saihara had been looking over the ocean. The sky was matted with grey clouds and the water folded and layered into itself without rhythm. He was watching it, he didn't know how long for, and something about it shifted like a wall had been broken down and there was nothing to stop him from falling through.
Sometimes he imagined that there'd been a tsunami, that the sea had ran backwards into the horizon then rushed back to consume him with its cold weight, with the horsepower of God’s strength and the apathy of immortality.
The water had been murky, and endless, and when he'd watched it, he hadn't been thinking anything at all.

Hunter isn’t used to adults being kind to him, or anyone older than him, really. They ignore him at best and loath him at worst, and the only adult he thought truly loved him lied and more. He is used to being pushed aside, put down, held to a standard he will never reach, but he’s used to it by now. He's used to adults being like that.
Camila, as she will come to be in most things, is the exception.

He's struggling immensely and is struggling to realize he doesn't have to do everything on his own, so maybe when former Coven Head turned parental figure Darius Deamonne is invited to help Eda and Raine in aiding the teenager will Hunter start to see the light.

But maybe together they can find a way to deal with it all and mend their scars, old and new.

Camila was not an angry woman. When Luz released snakes inside of her school, she was not angry (just disappointed). When Luz ran away to to the “demon realm” she was not angry (if only at herself). When Luz actually turned out to be Vee, a basilisk in the shape of her first-born daughter, she was not angry (Vee was her daughter too). She was not an angry woman, and she prided herself on how she handled things for these kids. Any anger she felt she carefully tucked away so she could be the best temporary mother to these six children in her care.
But if Camila ever happened to meet the monster they called Belos, she would not hold back. She would take all that meticulously tucked-away anger and he would feel at least a fraction of the pain he’d caused. Camila was not a violent woman, either- but for him, she would make an exception.

With Hunter’s memories of their time spent with Raine in the castle erased by Emperor Belos, Raine’s offer to adopt them seems bizarre to him. But after realizing the war on The Day of Unity decimated Emperor Belos and his castle, Hunter accepts Raine’s offer to live with them. Raine regrets being unable to protect Hunter from the torment of Emperor Belos, and even though Hunter doesn’t remember their friendship, Raine promises to protect and raise Hunter and never abandon him again.
