The drunk little sparks dancing in Ryland's eyes caught the warm glow of the bar table's light. He'd dropped the back of his head against the tall booth cushion, watching Ryder from under heavy lids with a languid expression, and Tom could swear that if that look landed on him one more time, he would pathetically come in his pants within the next thirty seconds. Taking all available data into account and having thoroughly analyzed the situation, the most logical course of action seemed to be a timely warning:
- You look stupid when you're drunk.
Great. Lovely conversation. Now please smack your head against the table and make absolutely sure everyone sees it. Don't watch Grace tip his head back in silent laughter. Don't watch the way his throat moves under the warm amber glow of the lamp. And for the love of God don't listen to that low, almost purring voice that makes every organ in his body attempt a triple somersault and promptly shrivel up afterward.
- I can live with that.
