On seeing Varka completely unfazed by drinking the full dose of poison, Lohen understands his mistake—he dosed for a human. He went straight for the upper limit of that range, of course, but clearly that wasn’t sufficient.

Illuga only smiled, though he seriously doubted Lohen could see, bleary as his eyes were. “It’s a good type of day to get work done. Peaceful, and relaxing.”
As predicted, Lohen eventually gave up and flopped over with an undignified oof. “D’en why’nt you relaxing?”

Varka is drowning in endless paperwork and a frustrating drug case with zero leads. When Jean hands him the list of new knight recruits for approval, he signs them all without a second thought — anything to bring some fresh energy into the stagnant Knights of Favonius.
He should have been more careful.
Now one of the new recruits is sneaking into his quarters at night, throwing a dagger right at him, pressing it to his throat, and then leave him with nothing but a cocky smirk and the memory of mint-green hair and blood-red eyes.
Maybe approving them all wasn’t his best decision.

Summary
He's in control of his emotions, in control of his demeanour. Totally in control.
Varka holds onto the end of his tail with his free hand as Lohen shifts on his lap, keeping it from wagging embarrassingly. Before he can overthink it, he downs the drink all in one go, letting the burning sugariness clog up his throat.
It doesn't have the unmistakable taste of medicine that Lohen usually taints his drinks with. Confusion washes over Varka for a second, until he sees Lohen chuckle.
"Alright! Let's get you back home before it hits."
The wolf walks right into the rabbit's trap.

"Wow, Grandmaster," Lohen gives a slow applause, his face no longer holding the gaze of a predator, but now pure indifference, "nicely done, getting out of that hole."
"Yep," Varka rolls his shoulder, "there's never something I can't handle, you know." When he gets the ache out of his shoulder, he glances at Lohen from the corner of his eyes. "Especially not another Alpha."
Lohen blinks, once, twice, three times, before breaking out into a grin.
There's always been a sort of... tension between Varka and Lohen, given they were both alphas. Lohen was all bark WITH a lot of bite, and Varka entertained every whim. But when things go a step too far, Varka's forced to re-evaluate what should be happening between of them, and it doesn't help that Lohen's starting to act off, either.

While the people of Nod Krai want, Lohen is the only one who needs. Friends and strangers alike shower him in praise, status, gifts, in return for all the good work he does– Lohen takes takes and takes, and what Illuga gets at the end of the day are bites across his body. But the knight doesn’t pretend it’s anything else. His motives aren’t hidden. The exchange doesn’t come with hidden expectations. His ‘rewards’, if something so depraved can even be called as such, are something genuinely tangible, and, as ashamed as Illuga is to say it… useful. Any soothing teas or appreciation gifts haven’t quelled his mind nearly as much as Lohen’s body.
He’s real.

Illuga desperately needs a way to distract himself from the insurmountable stress in his life. Lohen desperately wants someone willing to ruin him without remorse. Predictably, one drags the other down. Only, Lohen never expects that, somehow, Illuga would become worse than him.

Summary
There was one unspoken rule shared among the Knights of Favonius: "Never enter Varka's office while Lohen is inside."
The rule had spread everywhere without anyone truly knowing its origin or the dangers behind it. Then again, the mere mention of Lohen's name was already a warning in and of itself, so no one questioned it.
Unfortunately for Mika, he was about to witness the very reason why the rule was established in the first place.

There’s confusion on Varka’s face when their eyes meet. It lasts all but a second when he slowly comes to understand that Lohen is now missing all of his clothing.
“What happened to your…” Varka begins to say, slowly trailing off.
He never finishes his thought.
His eyes are too busy dipping down Lohen’s chest and stomach. A lump visibly forms in Varka’s throat when his gaze finally settles on the slender curve of Lohen’s hips—and the delicate pair of white panties he’s wearing.
In which Lohen learns something unexpected about Illuga’s sex life and decides to try applying it to his own.

That damn employee of that lodge house could’ve put its tattoo somewhere else on her body. Perhaps underneath the ‘Socius’ tattoo would’ve been better, or on the other wrist on its own spot, or on her hand, either front or back would’ve been good…
Whatever! Any spot where the tattoo should’ve input itself on her body would’ve been better anywhere else than having it just below her collarbone, and slightly above her chest.
