Max shuddered, grinding down just slightly, voice breaking. “Mine. My alpha. Need you.”
Charles blinked, mouth open, utterly lost. “…Alpha?”
The word hit him like a punch, because Max Verstappen, four-time world champion, sharp-tongued, untouchable, was clinging to him, whining into his throat, calling him alpha like it was the only thing that mattered.
