Summary
SPOILERS TVL EPISODE 7. I wrote this to heal me: Louis yells at Gabriella, eviscerates her with his words (his special skill). Louis tells Lestat about his day with Armand. Louis comforted after being tortured.
Kisses the red bumps of the wolf-scars, mouthing along the symbols of old pain. Licks when he gets to the end of one, then starts at another.
Lestat’s head is drooping back, breathing open-mouthed at the ceiling. He’s murmuring Louis’ name over and over, lost in the vowels. Intoning like a prayer, reminding Louis of churches. Louis finishes, lips not yet numb: but tingling from the puckered skin, from taking his time, from putting love into it. He whispers, “I hate that you got hurt.”
Lestat crying again, lord Jesus. It’s funny, it’s beautiful how this man cries. In his baritone, he just repeats it back, “I hate that you got hurt.”

Summary
“Louis,” Lestat said, the edges of his voice only cracking a little. Offering up the most casual and unaffected smile he could manage. “To what do I owe the pleasure this evening?”
Louis’ eyes flicked from Lestat’s face slowly downward, lingering on his bare torso in a way that made Lestat feel like he was being eaten alive. “In town on business,” he said when his eyes landed squarely on Lestat’s face again. A little curl in one corner of his mouth, his eyes an otherworldly green Lestat ached to dive into. “Decided I was in the mood for a show. You gonna invite me in?”

Summary
"You," Lestat says, and he's wobbly on his feet, pointing the cigarette like a finger toward Louis while looking anywhere other than him, too afraid of what meeting Louis' eyes would do to him. "Yes. You were right. I know. I know that is how you – I am sorry."
"Hang on," Louis says. "What?"
-
Louis comes to Lestat's concert. Lestat handles this about as well as you might expect.

I said, “They’ve got a coffee table.”
Rust looked over at their coffee table, and then at me. “Yeah?”
“You don’t even have a microwave.”
Rust looked around again, and his shoulders hunched up a bit. “A bird doesn’t build a nest for itself, Marty.”The diary of Martin Eric Hart as he solves a case, reevaluates his future, and spends a lot of time ruminating on furniture.

Summary
“Y’know…” Marty says, breaking the comfortable silence against his better judgment. “My oldest, Audrey, is probably a lesbian.”
It takes everything in him to keep himself posed in a casual manner. His Miller Lite sweats in his hand, and he's suddenly very aware of a segment of the lawn chair’s metal frame that digs into his hip.
Rust kind of looks over, pulling a face like he's thrown Marty even brought it up. “Alright?”
-
After the trail of Tuttle’s co-conspirators leads Marty and Rust to places they’ve never gone before, Marty starts to recontextualize Rust’s comments on relationships from over the years and suspects that, maybe, Rust ain’t as straight as he believed.

Summary
He rose on his knees a little, trying to find her big round skull in his view before lining up again. It wouldn’t be difficult; she’d been sniffing around their cabin since the development of a new quarry a couple hundred miles north began. First just drying meat, then the mean little cat Travis kept for mice. Sometimes their laundry. He’d shot sparrows with the Grant brothers in the summer and rabbits since he was nine, could hit a deer as it sprang away from thirty paces, hooves kicking leaf litter, this was easier than hitting a tree.
Be Rust, be born out of small-town tragedy and now you follow calamity like a migratory bird. No one knows the orange glow of suffering over the horizon better than you.

Summary
Rust shifted, and lowered towards the counter with his elbows bent and resting on it, now exposing just the thinnest, most inconsequential piece of tanned skin where his shirt didn’t quite reach his jeans, and Marty remembered the care he put in mowing his lawn and thought back, pictured in his mind Rust, shirt discarded, operating his own lawn mower out on the grass of his own house, with Maggie coyly watching his machinations from the kitchen window. He became sick at the thought, casting his eyes downward to where Rust’s curls were obscuring his view of the map.
Beautifully long. He still hadn’t cut it.
Marty has found ways to make his attraction more palatable.
