When Ze breaks out of the padlock that thing put on his head, he's left alone in that bedrock hallway with nothing but the torches on the wall for company. He could easily walk out and go home. The door was right there.
Paralyzed, he stands at the dark end of the hall, feeling the oppressive weight of what must be that horrible creature's million eyes on his back. It's laughing at him, surely. He stares down the hall and at nothing at all.
