He prayed to God to give him the answer. As always, he was too scared, too weak to go against heaven. He bent down with pen in hand to sign the order. To start the Second Coming. His heart told him it was wrong, and he had defied god to do the right thing saving Job’s children, healing dying humans in wars, stopping armageddon.
But those times were different. Crowley was with him. Brave, strong, kind Crowley who always did the right thing, the good thing. He would give Aziraphale courage. Help him figure out what to do. But, as always, God stayed quiet. And he was weak.

And perhaps after this they’ll be caught and persecuted. Maybe they won’t even make it one foot before they die, but death is such a trivial thing after so many years alive. Even just one more second together would be enough for this life. Aziraphale placed his hands into Crowley’s own, a soft smile accompanied with crinkling eyes.
Crowley yearns; Aziraphale cowers, terrified of the future. But he trusts Crowley, and so he puts his faith in him.
