He picked the drawing up, holding it closely to his face.
“Is that…supposed to be you?”
El huffed, holding herself tighter.
“If it is bad, just say it.”
“No! No, it’s not that, it’s just it looks nothing like you.” Will stumbled over his words, hitting his hand against the paper as if it would help illustrate his point.
In a place like Lenora, California, it's hard for El to hide the truth from others. But it's impossible to hide the truth from herself.

Freddie's mouth is open, but he doesn't speak. He just stares down at her with slightly parted lips, unable to form a proper sentence.
"I hurt people," Sam frowns, "It's all I'm good at."
"That's not true." Freddie cuts in, "You're good at so many things, Sam." He sniffles.

It was Family Day.
The V.Ks were milling around, subtly sticking together, pretending they couldn't feel the gazes on them, judging, suspicious.
None of them had wanted to come. They didn't want to subject themselves to this—a day of unease, of bearing the weight of the people's distrust. They didn't want to spend the entire day walking on eggshells, shoulders hunched and faces sullen, made to carry guilt that didn't belong to them.
They couldn't seem too happy, smile too widely, or laugh too loudly. They needed to play the part of the reformed reprobates: all too aware of their crimes, and trying to atone all the same.
Except, they'd committed no crime. There was nothing for them to atone for. The group had spent their entire lives imprisoned for their parents' misdeeds. Misdeeds which the children had paid the price for ten times over.
It wasn't fair.
Yet there they stood.

He holds Sirius’ gaze, expression unreadable, and he says, “I’m not using again.” Point blank.
Sirius studies his face, trying to decide whether or not he believes him. Remus is hard to read, sometimes.

Remus is struggling and feels like no one sees him, or at least he can't let anyone see he is struggling. This is all until one day where he runs out of a transfiguration class with a flimsy excuse which puts into action a string of events that will change his friendship with Sirius forever.
Everyone has their own struggles and is fighting their own battles and Remus needs to realise that he can't fight this battle on his own and he needs is friends to help him.Short fifth year marauders fic (a lot of angst) and it's from Remus's perspective. It's my first fic so I apologise in advance for typos and welcome any feedback :)
