“I take it you haven’t heard from my maker?” He asked, both out loud and on the vampire radio frequency. “Fucking asshole.” He muttered under his breath for good measure, still sore about how Armand had just upped and left him.
“I’m sorry you were burdened out of spite.”
Not quite out of spite, but Daniel didn’t say anything. Let Louis think what he wanted of Armand - the less those two had to do with each other, the better. Still, Daniel had hoped that the book tour would have drawn some kind of reaction.

What he hadn’t got through his head yet, was that Daniel didn’t give a shit about any of that.
What drew him in, were the hints of real messiness Rashid let pass through the cracks unaware - that was what fascinated Daniel.
