[Cowboy!Ed x Saloon Girl!Reader]
"Hey Ed, have you ever done something that you wish you could take back?" You immediately regretted asking as the words slipped from your mouth. Maybe you were dragging this conversation on for too long, but after everything, a small piece of you wanted to know if there was a chance to live a normal life after everything died down. And to be honest, you thought he would’ve ignored you in favor of sleeping for the rest of the night, but he let out a deep sigh before turning his attention back to you.
"Who hasn’t?" he said tiredly, "I've done things I wish I hadn’t had to do. Sometimes, either to protect my own or purely for survival. I ain't proud of all of it, but I don’t run from my past either. It's part of who I am, and if there’s redemption to be found in folks like me, it’ll come from doin' right by the people I care about, from makin' sure I don't repeat the same mistakes and from standin' up for those who can't stand up for themselves. That's how I see it anyway."
